Steampunk Ladies Gloves

For those ladies out there that aren't exactly the crafty sort, but love Steampunk & can't find any gloves to suit her budget or her taste there is a simple solution. If your like myself and feeling particularly thrifty you can look through your drawer of stockings. I found an old pair of knee highs that had holes in the toes. They were a ivory set that I never wore much anymore as it was anyways. To start with I cut the toes off, just to the point where the holes were at so as to make these as long as possible. Next I put them on and looked at where the knuckle of my thumbs were at on each if they were position at the same point. I proceded to mark the area and make a small nip into the material and slid my thumb through. Brilliant.
Now if your satisfied with this you can stop right here. Depending on the material of the stockings you might not even need to hem the edges that you've just cut.
However, my opinion is of lots more ornamentation. I am still looking for the right materials with other items that need to be thrown out. The plan is to lace all the edges. The hand hole, the thumb hole, and the arm hole. Following the lacing I will place on the outside arm near the elbow section of the glove a set of three buttons. As the project progresses I will take pictures and explain how it was done and with what materials. For now, think of this as a little taster a small nibble for a small mouse.
